The band did a sweet double header while on tour on the West Coast, appearing during the day at Westfest 40th Anniversary Woodstock concert in Golden Gate Park, then heading to Yoshi's Jazz Club for a night set. The five day run also included appearances at San Francisco's famed Boom Boom Room, a venue once owned by blues legend John Lee Hooker, a packed house at the Shanachie Pub in scenic Willets CA, a radio appearance on KZYX FM in the unbeleivably beautiful Mendocino county, the Woodstock/Yoshi's doubleheader, and a recording session at the World famous Hyde Street Studio. At the Woodstock event, MM and the Cents did press and photos while kicking back with arists like El Chicano, Narada Michael Walden, Soul Medic, Leon Hendrix (brother of Jimi), Neil Young guitarist Mike Fuller, Country Joe, Barry Melton, Ray Manzarek, Neil Schon, Lester Chambers and many more in the largest backstage area imaginable. MM was also asked to sign a raffled guitar for "Guitars Not Guns" and posed for photos with fans and artists all afternoon.

Michael and Ryan recorded a track with Pamela Parker for the NOW (National Org. Women) Compilation CD. The guys recorded "Power Of Now" which featured the Twentyfirst Centurian sound and even MM performing a guest rap at the end of the song. The disc also features upcoming female artists including Parker and P-Funk singer Kim Manning, and will be released this Winter.
MM 21 spent most of the months of July/Aug in the Top Ten of the well known Jamband 250 at Jamband.com . The band was thrilled to learn of their status, reaching as high as forth before leveling off to ninth on Aug 10. Fresh off celebrating being awarded winners of the 2009 RELIX magazine Jam-Off Contest in June, our boys are on quite a roll.. Fans of MM 21 can vote once every hour at the Jambands.com website by clicking on the link for Jamband 250. Tell your friends and lets put this band on the 2011 Jamcruise.
The boys recorded tracks for a children's CD, including "Cow and Chicken" a song written by band manager Steve Goldstein. The track features hilarious lyrics, barnyard bluegrass with MM on the pedal steel and banjo, while Ryan bangs away at the piano like a champ. Plans are in effect to gather more material to eventually release the effort. It was a lot of fun to say the least.
Sit-Ins...How we love em'. Sometimes Sax-ual Centurian Jay Davidson will appear with Patti LaBelle, the Soul Survivors and Chubby Checker at a private function at the Phila Art Museum in July. Our favorite Funk Detective will be investigating the pocket all evening with a storied musical lineup. Jay has worked extensively in Soul and R&B in the past, playing with such acts as the Funk Brothers, Billy Preston, Dionne Warwick and was for years a member of the 76ers House Band. We are so proud of our homeboy...aaaaawwww shhhhiiiiiittttt....Go Jay! Speaking of Chubby Checker, the also quite funky Michael Morrow will be slapping bass with pals Funk Church in Avalon NJ on Aug 8. Last year Michael produced demos for the project which includes Chubby's son Shan Egan and longtime Checker keyboardist John Bingham.
